Pushing iiRDS Towards International Standardization

17.02.2025 12:00 Uhr

The iiRDS Consortium, in collaboration with the Digital Data Chain Consortium (DDCC), is actively driving the international standardization of iiRDS.

As part of these efforts, a New Work Item Proposal (NP) has been submitted to revise and extend IEC PAS 63485:2023, incorporating elements of VDI 2770 on digital manufacturer information. This aligns with the ongoing development of iiRDS and the next iiRDS version, which will integrate the updated VDI 2770 requirements. The new iiRDS release is expected in Q2 2025, aligning with the NP voting period and the anticipated start of the revision work.

The NP project for the revision and extension of IEC PAS 63485:2023 to an International Standard was officially circulated in IEC Technical Committee 3, and the international voting is now open until March 7, 2025.

If the NP is approved, the next phase will focus on the comments and updating the existing document, incorporating key enhancements from iiRDS and DDCC, and integrating references to other critical developments, such as the Digital Product Passport and IDTA submodels. This marks a significant step in establishing iiRDS as a recognized international standard for digital technical communication.
