iiRDS Online Training
iiRDS Training is a blended learning course...
...including live web sessions, quizzes, assignments, self-study and studying in small groups. The first iiRDS Training took place as online-only training in June 2020. The training participants were impressed not only by the content and the learning they achieved, but also the training format.
The first round of online iiRDS Training was held exclusively for members of the iiRDS Consortium. For non-Consortium members, the online training was held in an updated format in June 2021 and 2023, as well as in April/May 2024. The next iiRDS Training course is expected to take place in spring 2025. If there is sufficient demand, an additional training date would also be possible. If you are interested in the training, please contact us.
Contents and Organization of iiRDS Training
iiRDS Online Training addresses various focus topics of the standard. These are accomplished by the participants in different study formats:
In several live web meetings with the trainers, lectures are held and questions around the topics are discussed and answered. Some sections require self-study and group study with other training participants. Furthermore, participants are asked to solve quizzes and hand in exercises to the trainers. These are corrected and given back with extensive individual feedback.
The training material will be made available to the participants afterwards.
The following contents are the main topics:
- Topic 1: Introduction to smart content and iiRDS
- Topic 2: The metadata model of iiRDS
- Topic 3: The iiRDS package format and iiRDS/A
- Topic 4: iiRDS and other standards (iiRDS and VDI 2770)
- Topic 5: Toolchain and systems for generating and processing iiRDS data
- Topic 6: Use of iiRDS in companies

What participants have said about iiRDS Training:
"This course is a very good lead-in to implementing intelligent
...information creation and delivery in a company. It provides the theorical and technological knowledge required for the implementation process. The course clarified my questions and misunderstandings about the standard and its implementation. Overall, this course is very helpful to personnel and their companies." (Belinda Huang)
"The course covered a wide range of topics, from smart content
…in general to the structure of iiRDS to tools, standards and applications. The atmosphere in the web meetings was very personal, and the trainer did an excellent job of meeting everyone at their individual level and helping them learn. ...industry standard, its mission and enablement capabilities to transform information into knowledge management within a digitized world while its abilities for adoption and enhancements are also explained very well." (André Schlotz, SDL)
